Why we started Salt & Sand
We were the familywith too much to carry.
Six bags, a folding wagon, a cooler that never stayed cold, and a two-year-old asleep on a shoulder before we reached the water. We loved the ocean. We dreaded the day around it.
So we began setting up for friends — properly, the way a good hotel sets a room. Shade already standing. Towels rolled and warm. Wooden toys waiting in the sand. What we noticed wasn't the equipment; it was the way families exhaled the moment they arrived and realised there was nothing left to manage.
That exhale is the whole company. Salt & Sand exists so parents can be present for the afternoon their children will remember — not the logistics they'll forget.

Salt & Sand opens on the Southern California coast this season. We haven't collected guest stories yet — so instead of borrowing them, we're inviting a small number of families to make the first ones with us.

Which beaches do you serve?+
We serve Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, Venice, Playa del Rey and Manhattan Beach. If your beach isn't listed, please ask — we often accommodate nearby coastline.
How far in advance should we book?+
We recommend one to two weeks for summer weekends. Shorter notice is often possible; simply reach out and we'll confirm availability.
Do we need to bring anything?+
Only what you'd like to wear. Your setting arrives complete with shade, seating, textiles and refreshment. Add-ons can complete the rest.
What happens if the weather turns?+
Coastal mornings are often overcast. If conditions genuinely won't allow a comfortable day, we'll reschedule or refund in full.
Are your setups suitable for young children?+
They are designed around families. The Sandcastle includes generous shade, soft flooring underfoot and a curated collection of sand play for little ones.
